RTG PhD and Postdoc Retreat, April 29th, 2015

The retreat is a gathering of all members of the RTG, organized and executed by the students and postdocs, who will present a series of talks about their research throughout the day. The purpose is to foster the cohesion and unity of the research group, to bring about an awareness among the group of other members' research areas, and to open channels for the exchange of ideas. The retreat is to take place at the Internationales Wissenschaftsforum Heidelberg (IWH).

Pre-Retreat Weekend, April 25-26th, 2015

This is a Saturday-to-Sunday getaway for all PhD students and postdocs in the RTG in which the members will stay overnight at Kurhaus Trifels, situated in the idyllic Pfälzerwald. It is designed with the purpose of building the identity of the research group and to provide a window of focused time in which members may discuss the direction of the group and become better acquainted. The weekend will also serve as a time in which to plan the student-and-postdoc-organized retreat to take place on Wednesday, April 29th. Some engaging social activities are also to be anticipated!

Schedule

Saturday, April 25th:

  • Arrive at train station Annweiler am Trifels between 12:00h and 13:00h  (±)
  • Arrive at Kurhaus Trifels between 12:00h - 2:00h.  Get settled into rooms.
  • Coffee/Cake to be provided in afternoon
  • Activities including introductory 5 minute talks, with slides, from every participant (introduce yourself in, say, 1 minute, and your research topic in 4 minutes)
  • Other activities concerning the planning of the day of talks to take place on April 29th.
  • Dinner at Kurhaus Trifels
  • Fun times

Sunday, April 26th:

  • Breakfast at Kurhaus Trifels
  • Hiking excursion
  • 14:00h or 15:00h (±) depart
